Job Description

The Business Development Manager will lead Go-to-Market strategies, onboard financial institutions and merchants, and build strong commercial relationships. The role plays a key part in scaling solutions such as EthioPay Instant Payment System (IPS), interoperable QR (ETHQR), Request-to-Pay (RTP), and other digital payment services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies targeting private sector stakeholders
  • Identify and onboard banks, MFIs, fintechs, PSPs, merchants, and corporates
  • Drive adoption of payment solutions (IPS, QR, RTP, bulk payments, APIs)
  • Prepare proposals, presentations, and product demonstrations
  • Negotiate agreements, pricing models, and partnerships
  • Coordinate onboarding, integrations, and go-live processes
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders and executives
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis
  • Monitor performance indicators (growth, transactions, revenue)
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Product, Tech, Marketing, Legal)
  • Support campaigns, workshops, and industry engagement activities

Job Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Finance, or related field
  • Master’s Degree (MBA or related) is strongly preferred
  • Professional certifications in business development or payments are an advantage

Experience

  • 5–8 years of progressive experience in business development, sales, or partnerships
  • 4–5 years experience in fintech, banking, or digital financial services
  • Proven track record in client acquisition and revenue growth
  • Experience in merchant acquiring or payment solutions is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of Ethiopia’s financial and regulatory environment
