Job Description
The Finance and Administration Officer will be based in Mekelle and work closely with resident wetland officers, the Project Coordinator, and the finance team in Addis Ababa. The role requires frequent field travel and prior experience in an NGO environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day project financial transactions in compliance with organizational and donor procedures
- Prepare financial reports, budget monitoring documents, and forecasts
- Review, verify, and consolidate financial reports from regional offices
- Ensure proper financial documentation, filing, and record management
- Support procurement and payment processes in line with donor requirements
- Conduct regular field visits for financial monitoring and support
- Ensure timely reconciliation and liquidation of advances
- Oversee daily administrative operations and office management
- Manage office supplies, assets, and inventory with proper documentation
- Support logistics for travel, meetings, and workshops
- Handle HR administrative records including contracts and leave files
- Work closely with the Project Coordinator and program team
Qualifications and Experience
- BA/BSc or MA/MSc in Accounting, Finance, or related fields
- Minimum of 4 years relevant work experience with a BA degree or above, preferably in an NGO setting
- Strong knowledge of donor compliance and project finance management
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
- Strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently
