Job Description
Marie Stopes International Ethiopia is seeking a qualified Pharmacist to manage and oversee pharmaceutical services in its clinics. The role involves procurement, storage, distribution, and proper handling of MCH/RH-related medical supplies, ensuring compliance with national guidelines, monitoring stock levels, and supporting clinical staff in safe and effective pharmaceutical practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement procedures for purchasing, storing, and handling pharmaceuticals in line with national standards.
- Prepare specifications and codes for medical equipment and supplies.
- Receive and organize drugs and medical supplies, ensuring proper coding, batch tracking, and location management.
- Monitor stock levels, unit costs, and expiry dates; maintain FEFO (First Expire First Out) system.
- Prepare purchase requisitions and stock reports; manage buffer stock and distribution.
- Provide technical guidance on pharmaceuticals to staff and promote rational drug use.
- Facilitate disposal of expired or damaged drugs per regulatory requirements.
- Liaise with procurement for timely orders and distribution to field sites/clinics.
Requirements
- BSc in Pharmacy or Clinical Pharmacy
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in clinical pharmaceutical services
- Knowledge of quality care, good pharmaceutical practice, and MOH/FMHACA guidelines
- Strong communication, computer literacy, and customer handling skills
- Pro-choice
