Job Summary

Bethlehem Youth Academy is seeking experienced and passionate Senior Amharic and Afan Oromo Teachers to provide high-quality language instruction and support students in achieving strong academic performance.

The successful candidates will lead advanced language instruction, develop examination-focused learning modules, promote language and cultural activities, contribute to curriculum improvement, and mentor junior language teachers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead language instruction focusing on textual analysis, literature appreciation, grammar, and language proficiency.
  • Develop targeted preparatory modules aligned with regional language examination formats.
  • Prepare students for regional examinations and support strong academic outcomes.
  • Organize and supervise language events, debates, and mother-tongue celebration programs.
  • Review and contribute to curriculum frameworks designed to strengthen students' linguistic abilities.
  • Coach and mentor junior Amharic and Afan Oromo teachers on effective instructional approaches.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with school and national curriculum standards.
  • Provide after-school enrichment activities and academic support.
  • Participate in INSET training and professional development activities.
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and culturally sensitive learning environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • BA or B.Ed. Degree in Amharic or Afan Oromo.
  • More than 10 years of teaching experience in a private school.
  • Deep knowledge of grammar, literature, and regional-language pedagogy.
  • Proven track record of preparing students for regional examinations.
  • Strong command of the relevant language and ability to conduct classroom instruction effectively.
  • Preference will be given to candidates who can teach multiple subjects.

  • Excellent knowledge of Amharic or Afan Oromo linguistics and literature.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong professional standards and cultural sensitivity.
  • Senior-level leadership and mentoring abilities.
  • Excellent lesson planning and classroom management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High commitment, self-motivation, and professional integrity.
  • Strong teamwork and problem-solving abilities.
  • Positive and adaptable attitude.
  • Familiarity with educational platforms such as E-Learn is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of educational planning, management, school leadership, or educational administration is an advantage.

Salary

💰 Minimum Gross Salary: 23,500 ETB
