Senior English & Mathematics Teachers – Bethlehem Youth Academy

Job Summary

Bethlehem Youth Academy (BYA) is looking for experienced and highly motivated Senior English and Mathematics Teachers to provide high-quality instruction, support student achievement, and contribute to academic excellence.

The successful candidates will deliver engaging classroom instruction, prepare students for regional examinations, monitor student performance, mentor junior teachers, and contribute to curriculum development and improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-level and engaging classroom instruction aligned with school and national curriculum standards.
• Develop rigorous test-preparation materials, practice examinations, and assessments focused on regional examination success.
• Prepare lesson plans in accordance with established school and national curriculum models.
• Closely monitor individual student performance and provide remedial or enrichment support.
• Mentor junior teaching staff and contribute to curriculum improvement.
• Coach junior English teachers on effective instructional methods.
• Support students through after-school enrichment activities and additional academic support.
• Participate in school trainings and professional development activities.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to maintain academic excellence and positive student development.
• Apply effective classroom management and student-centred teaching approaches.

Qualifications & Experience

🎓 Education:

• BA, BSc, or B.Ed. Degree in English or Mathematics.

💼 Experience:

• More than 10 years of teaching experience in a private school.
• Proven experience preparing students for regional examinations.

• Strong analytical and pedagogical skills.
• Fluent English and ability to conduct classroom instruction in English.
• Strong lesson planning and curriculum implementation skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong student mentoring and classroom management abilities.
• Passion for teaching and commitment to student development.
• Strong teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Excellent time-management and organizational abilities.
• High professional and ethical standards.
• Flexible, self-motivated, and results-oriented.
• Willingness to participate in INSET/professional training.
• Ability to teach multiple subjects is an advantage.
• Familiarity with educational platforms such as e-learning software is an advantage.
• Knowledge of educational planning, school leadership, or educational administration is an advantage.

Salary

💰 Minimum Gross Salary: ETB 35,000
