Job Description
HELVETAS Ethiopia is seeking a qualified Infrastructure Development Officer to support rural infrastructure development projects, particularly in rural road construction, trail bridges, and footpath networks. The role involves planning, supervising, and monitoring construction activities, ensuring quality standards, and supporting technical implementation to improve rural accessibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, supervise, and monitor rural infrastructure construction projects
- Support trail bridge and rural road design, construction, and supervision
- Ensure quality control and compliance with engineering standards
- Prepare technical reports and project documentation
- Conduct field visits and monitor project progress
- Provide technical support and guidance to field teams
- Ensure compliance with Ethiopian road sector standards
Qualifications and Experience
- BSc Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology and Management, Public Works Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 7 years relevant experience in infrastructure or rural road projects
- Experience in trail bridge construction and rural infrastructure development
- Experience working with INGOs or donor-funded projects is an advantage
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Project, GIS, and Microsoft Office
- Strong technical, reporting, and communication skills
- Fluency in English and local language of the duty region is required
